Minnestalgia and Memories of Grandma’s House
2007-11-04
Jay Erckenbrack has powerful memories of visiting his grandparents as a child. He remembers spreading homemade jelly on fresh warm bread that came straight out of the oven. Now with his business, Minnestalgia, Jay strives to evoke similar memories for his customers.
Minnestalgia, based in McGregor, produces a line of unique and tasty Northwoods products that include chokecherry jelly, wild plum syrup, blueberry salsa, and black current honey wine. Most of the ingredients are grown locally and either harvested from the wild or purchased from area farmers. Through partnerships with tribal members at Red Lake, White Earth, and Leech Lake reservations, Minnestalgia has added jewelry, willow baskets, and other crafts to its product line.
These memorable Northwoods products are available through Minnestalgia’s website http://www.minnestalgia.com and at food cooperatives, grocery stores, and specialty shops throughout Minnesota.
